ROTARY CLUB OF KALAMAZOO SEEKING VOLUNTEERS FOR KALAMAZOO RIVER AND RIVER TRAIL CLEAN UP.
Saturday, April 20, 2024, 11:00AM - 3:00PM
Mayors’ Riverfront Park
Kalamazoo Rotarians take to television to share their plan to clean up their city’s river and river trail. Speaking on behalf of the Rotary Club of Kalamazoo was Sandy Bliesener, former club president and president of OCBA Landscape Architects.
Sandy talks about recruiting 200 to 400 volunteers to cover the entire 6.5-mile stretch of the Kalamazoo River, adjoining riverbank and river trail, from Comstock to Parchment. It is expected to be Kalamazoo’s largest volunteer-led event, ever.
Channel 3 recognizes early event partners and sponsors, including: Zhang Financial, OCBA Landscape, Ross Financials, and the WMU School of Environment.
Patrik McVerry, Kalamazoo’s Parks and Recreation Director, shares, "The response has been, I don't want to say overwhelming, but very, very encouraging.” He adds, "It gives me a sense of pride knowing that Kalamazoo takes pride in ownership of the resources and the amenities that we have here.”
